2nd Trimester

How soon is too soon????

Am I the only one that has LO's clothes washed, and everything "ready" for him to come home??? I'm so anxious to meet him, and yes I want him to cook for the remainder of the pregnancy...but getting everything, washing it, and putting it all together makes me so happy and makes it feel like I'm one step closer to him being in my arms.

Anybody else done this so soon? Or it seems so soon.

  • With DD, we moved when I was 34 weeks.  I didn't do the clothes before then because of the move, but I was dying to about the point you're at.  I'd wait if I were you, but there's no harm in getting it out of the way early.

  • Haven't washed the clothes yet.... not that I have many clothes!  But yesterday DH painted the nursery and tore out the old carpeting.  This week the new carpet will be installed and we're getting furniture in the next couple weeks.  Then I'll probably wash clothes and start decorating.  For me it's just happening one step at a time.  But believe me, if the nursery were done, I would be washing and organizing clothes.  DH thinks I'm crazy for wanting to do these things so early!

  • I have no desire to do more wash that I have already right now haha! I'll probably start getting it done around 32 weeks though. My shower isn't for another month and I assume I'll get plenty of baby clothes then, so it would be a waste of time to wash anything now, especially since I don't have all that many clothes for him yet.

  • Most of the clothes we have are hand me down from my cousin's children so I have washed them all and put them into rubbermaid containers. We still have to empty what will become the nursery and paint it so I thought it made sense to clean what I had before I packed it all up to get it out of that room temporarily.
  • Welcome to NESTING!

I dont have tons of clothes yet because we bought a few outfits but my baby shower is in April. But i've planned the entire nursery and where certain clothes will go. the diapers are organized and when the furniture is delivered i know where things go. DH laughs but im always over planned and organized

  • Ummm, I haven't purchased one thing for baby, other than the dresser we got last weekend.

  • We're getting TONS of hand-me-downs from family & friends. We are also going to have tons of clothes that family members have bought her. When the hand me downs start pouring in I'll probably wash them and put them in tubs until the nursery is done .I'm totally an over planner though. I think being where you are there is no harm in that :) Congrats on getting that out of the way Yes
  • I haven't washed a thing yet. As type A as I am, I'm also reasonable and I'm not doing multiple small loads of laundry and wasting water. I'll wash everything together once we have it.

  • I think it's a little too soon, but to each their own. I know the feeling of wanting to do something.

I won't wash until I'm almost ready to give birth. I don't want to risk have to wash all the clothes again because I know I'll feel like I have to if they aren't freshly washed.

  • I'm going to start the nursery and get things done as soon as possible after we find out if the baby is a boy or a girl b/c of training my dogs.  I want to give them as much time as they need to get acclimated to all the new sounds, smells, etc.  and have time to teach them where they can and can't go.  This will be a big change for them so it's important.

  • Haven't even thought about it.

We're moving when I am 30-32 weeks, so I plan on doing zilch until then.
