post c section bleeding question

so here i am thinking i am sooo lucky that my bleeding has been so light - well now that I am home, it seems to have gotten heavier???? is that normal? no clotting or anything nuts - TMI but I am not going through pads like nuts - I could change one maybe every 3 hours.......  is this a sign I am doing too much!!!

Re: post c section bleeding question

  • My dr. told me if my bleeding increased like that it meant that I was doing to much and to take it easy (which I know can be hard to do).  Have you been moving around alot? Going up and down stairs? etc...

I think I was bleeding that much in the hospital but not when I got home.. maybe you are just gettting to that stage.  It wouldn't hurt to call the dr. if you are really concerned.

  • I had a couple of times when I thought my bleeding was getting ready to stop because it slowed down so much, but then it would pick up again.  I bled for 8 weeks post partum.
  • i bled a ton pp, but i had clots--please be sure you report those if they appear as I found out a few weeks pp that my uterus was 50% pooling in blood and I had to do a crazy amount of clotting meds to finally make it disappear.Don't worry this was abnormal

I do remember my dr. saying when i was leaving the hospital that if bleeding picked up, it was usually a sign of overdoing it. try at all costs to avoid lifting anything heavier than your LOs, don't do any reaching/bending, etc.

GL and hope yours clears up soon!

  • I bled heavily the first two days in the hospital.  After that, it lightened up.  I am still bleeding now, but it's only enough to warrant a panty liner.

Sounds like you shoud take it easy!  I know it's hard!

  • increase in activity = increase in blood.  As long as there is no clotting or horrible cramping - it's fine. Yeah- take it more easy. Remeber all your body has been through recently - it needs a few weeks to really rest up.
  • I had the exact same thing.  My OB also told me to take it a little bit easier if the bleeding increased.  I am now 1 month pp and am still having the very end of the bleeding (yellowish).  I'm hoping it will be over in the next few days.
  • I had bleeding, including big clots, for six weeks postpartum.
