DH insisted on renting this movie tonight. I thought it looked interesting, but I don't know if I can take this violence. Quinton Tarentino is known for graphic violence and I've already covered my eyes 3 times. It is gross violence. And Brad Pitt's southern accent kind of sucks. Have you seen it and is it disgusting the entire time? I might have to just play on the bump and facebook and only listen to the movie!
Anyone else can't take violence and feel queasy much easier in pregnancy? Ugh.
Re: NBR: who has seen Inglorious Bastards?
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
I didnt think it was as gory as a lot of Q.T.'s films are but right at the very end its a little icky. Other than that I can think of two other scenes that are fairly bloody. I liked the movie though
OK, so now going through a tame phase. Can't just listen to this movie since there are so many sub titles! but during and earlier scene (the baseball bat scene), I told my husband to tell me when to look. He said it was OK, but failed to notice the dead scalped headed body behind Brad Pitt.
Yes, to repeat someone before the whole concept of kill or be killed gets to me. DH and I were just talking about how sad it was that this was less than 100 years ago. But I said it still goes on today in MUCH of the world. So sad.
And to add to someone else's comments, yes a lot of the Nazi soldiers were teenagers drafted. I remember finding out a friend of my parents was a Nazi solider when I was a teen. I could not believe they were friends with him and a friend of mom's was married to him. Turns out, he was 15 as a solider when the ship he was on was captured and he was held a prisoner of war in America. He never believed in the Nazi cause and stayed in America. Crazy. He was just a child!
I'm a huge Tarantino fan and I loved it. I'm also married to a Jew whose grandparents were in Nazi labor camps, so it was empowering and awesome.
I don't care for the gory violence either but it's done in a kitschy Tarantino way, so I think it's not as bad as say, Saw. If you thought that was bad, don't ever watch Kill Bill.
Loved it. And it's nominated for Best Picture, which is awesome for QT.
I'm a huge fan, and I thought this was one of his best movies yet.
I saw it a few weeks ago. I closed my eyes and made my DH mute the baseball bat scene and one other scene.
Otherwise, I typically don't love violence, but I got a thrill out of much of it. The big ending rocked my socks. It was a great revenge fantasy movie.
