What size baby clothes are you buying??

Since we found out LO is a boy I just HAD to go buy a couple outfits!  I know I should be saving my money for something more functional like a breastpump but that's no fun lol!  What size is everyone buying?  I know everyone says not to buy too much newborn size because they outgrow it right away plus that's usually what you get from everyone at a shower, but I've been buying some cute summer outfits and want to make sure LO can fit into them before the winter!!  Stick out tongue

Re: What size baby clothes are you buying??

  • I bought some 0-3 things that I thought I might die without, but I have been buying some 3-6 things now.  I banned myself from buying anything else until after my showers though, he already has a full wardrobe!

  • Shopping for outfits is so fun! There is so much cute stuff out there. I've been mostly buying 3-6 months and a few versatile 6-9 months things.

  • I am buying mostly 3-6 months. I don't think I am going to have a small baby so I would rather buy big and have them grow into them. I have bought a couple packs of onesies that are 0-3 months because you can always use plain onsies
  • I only got like 2 newborn onesies.  Everything else I've bought so far has been 3 or 6 months.

  • I am trying super hard not to buy clothing b/c people like to buy that for showers.  Plus there is just not a lot of cute gender neutral stuff.  But I admit to having bought some clothes, most are 6 mo+.

  • I am obviously not buying much since it's my third boy but it's normal to want to shop, so don't feel bad. The kid needs clothes, right?

My boys were both 8lbs, and wore newborn clothes for the first 6 weeks or so.

So I would suggest you buy quiet a few of newborn onsies (because you are due in the summer like me). I just plan on putting him in onsies in the beginning. When I had my first I always had him dressed in outfits from day one, but since this is my 3rd, I doubt I will care- lol-

I know alot of people don't like to buy smalled outfits because they outgrow them but I hate hate hate seeingmy kids dressed in oversized clothes. I think it looks sloppy. So we buy in all sizes. Not buying a ton of course, but enough for them to wear size appropriate clothing.

  • My DD was small and ran true to size or small so I am just buying a few things also true to size.  This means I am buying newborn and 0-3. No one bought me this size for my DD and I really needed them.  She didn't wear 3-6 months until she was at least 4 mths old.  You just never know!  I bought newborn oneises and a few summer 0-3.  Then I bought fall/winter 3-6 months.

Also, I agree with that I don't like it when kids are only dressed in clothes too big for them.  My DD was swimming in even newborn clothes in the beginning and I even went out and bought a few preemie outfits because I desperately wanted something that fit her!
  • mostly 3-6 months...I hear that they are in them the longest.
  • I am buying like, ONE newborn thing to take him home in (haven't yet, but that is the plan).

I bought too much 0-3 stuff last time and was disappointed when all this cute stuff didn't fit right off the bat :-)  BUT that is still what I will buy (I guess)  I'm mostly doing onesies, and then hopefully we'll get some good stuff from showers.

  • I scatter my purchases to be season-appropriate for newborn-12 months. Wink
  • What I have bought so far has been either 3month or 6 month from Carters...(love that store!)

  • DS was 8 1/2 lbs and was in newborn stuff for a month, so I've been buying newborn and 0-3. Although for anyone having showers (this is my 2nd, so I'm not having them), most people tended to buy the newborn and 0-3.

  • Everyone told me not to buy a lot of newborn stuff with DD and I'm glad we didin't listen. She was in newborn clothes for 4 months! This time around it's a boy so I'm not sure if it will work out the same way or not.
  • Last time I bought all 0-3 and up.  Everyone told me that my baby would be big and I wouldn't need NB clothes. Well, she spent 6-8 weeks wearing NB clothes and my mom had to have a shopping spree at Target while I was in the hospital, lol

That being said, I would never go overboard on NB.  I have a couple cute outfits for her to wear as a newborn, some onesies, and some sleepers.  Everything else will be 3 months and up.

  • We are not finding out the gender, so it makes it easier not to buy stuff. But, I am only going to buy a few NB onesies for the very beginning.

I am 5'11" and DH is 6'3". I have no idea how big our baby will be, but I am guessing it will be long...I doubt the tiny stuff will fit for very long, so I plan on buying more 0-3 than NB, and then the bulk of it 3-6 months. I only plan on buying the minimum anyway. It'll be much more fun to buy clothes when we know the gender.
