Sensitive personalities in little ones

Has anyone noticed that their little one is just a bit more of a sensitive soul that the average little one? Madi will scold the kitties and then give a hug to the one who did not pick the cat fight. If she sees another kid crying she will comfort them. And if she is around kids that are more aggressive she tends to shy away and stand clear of them.

So whats your thoughts on little ones who seem a bit more emotional?

I personally think it is really sweet and so refreshing to see her little personality come out and be so different than a lot of the children I know. (They are almost all pretty aggressive little ones)

Re: Sensitive personalities in little ones

  • You just perfectly described my little Rosie Mae.

Someone told me once that my job as a parent is to provide my children:

roots = a safe home, a solid routine, strength in their character, etc.

    and

wings = the ability to be independant and to function in society; to be able to grow up and be an active citizen.

With our sensative ones, I think this is a special challenge, but one I embrace and look forward to achieving.  I love her gentle soul and hope to nurture it into be a sentative, compassionate and caring adult.  :)

  • Yes!  At this point I suspect 2 of my 3 are highly sensitive. If you're in to reading, I highly recommend the book "The Highly Sensitive Child" by Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. Great book with great insight on raising kids that are extra sensitive (especially if you aren't super sensitive yourself).
