WDYT? pip

I saw this on lamebook.com.  WDYT about posing kids like this?  Funny, kinda funny, not funny, not acceptable under any circumstances?

I, personally, find it unacceptable when kids are posed with weapons of any kind.  I would have a major problem if this person was a "friend."  The caption to the picture is the kicker, too.

  • Child abuse. Simply awful.
  • Beyond unacceptable.

  • I am not necessarily opposed to the right to bear arms, but I find this photo and everything it stands for to be despicable and and abhorrent!

  • Not a fan.

And to add to your question...better, worse, or the same as posing child  next to beer bottle/can??

  • I am all for the right to bare arms; DH & I own quite a few & I love going to the range.  That being said, I would NEVER *NEVER* pose my child with a gun.  Never.  I don't care if the guns are locked and unloaded.  I do not find that picture or the mother's comment funny at all.

  • Totally unacceptable..but FAR, FAR FAR from child abuse.

I am HOPING that someone with that many guns has a lot of gun knowledge and training and isn't putting that kid in any danger..so the kid is sitting there with a 3 lb piece of metal...big deal..that is not child abuse.

However, If the guns were loaded (no way of telling, I don't think..I'm not a gun expert) or the guns were always sitting out on the couches like that??  Well, I would hope someone would report that.

    The picture itself...not report worthy.

  • I am guilty.  My dad is a hunter (eats everything he shoots which isn't much these days, haha) and I have a picture of my son in a camo hat and cargos with one of my dad's 22's.  I was brought up around guns and was taught to  respect them and always treat them as loaded.

That being said. I think that picture with that caption is a little too much though.  My "grandpas hunting buddy" picture is a little less scary looking.image

  • After reading the comments I guess I shouldn't have posted this.  My dad wanted a hunting buddy picture.

  • But I do find this one at DS's first spring training game funny, so perhaps I am a bit of a hypocrite.  Hmmmm, I'll stick a pin in this and think about it later.

  • I think there's a difference between a whole arsenal and grandpa's hunting buddy. Likewise, there's a difference between a beer bottle and a bar full of hard liquor.

We have quite a few of ds like this, LOL. This is the only one available on this computer, but I'm pretty sure there are a couple with his mouth on the (empty) bottle. The smooth, cold edge felt good on his teething gums while camping!

  • Responsible gun owners know they aren't toys and treat them with respect, not as jokes.  Clearly that person thought the pic was funny, which tells me they aren't responsible as a gun owner.  I think it's a horrible picture and sends the wrong message to a child. (Obviously, that one's too young to know right now and "learn" something bad, but won't always be, kwim?)

  • Horribly fukcing trashy. Not even a little cute or funny, imo.

Way different than a ton of automatic weapons, imo.

  • I don't think its funny at all.
  • Disgusting.  What kind of deranged mind poses their infant with a gun?

I don't think they are different at all....I think it is exactly the same.  Both have a dangerous weapon w/ in the grasp of a baby.  I am not a fan of either but I don't consider either child abuse or anything.

And I think posing your baby w/ alcohol is different potentially danger wise but equally as trashy.
