I've been on modified bedrest since 24 weeks when i spent 3 days in the hospital. I was having contractions 6 minutes apart. Thankfully the magnesium stopped them. And even luckier than that my cervix didn't change and I didn't start to dialate. I am now almost 27 weeks, on no medication and I haven't had a single contraction for over a week and a half.
My next appt isn't until march 9th. The dr said I don't have to stay in bed completely, I can shower, and get up to get snacks, etc. I'm happy to do whatever I need to for the sake of our little one, but getting out of the house is sounding better and better.
Sorry for rambling, but has anyone or heard of anyone getting off bedrest once the contractions got under control and basically went away?
Also, three days before the contractions started my father in law passed away suddenly. I'm sure the stress of that contributed......
Re: anyone get off bedrest after preterm labor?
One of my coworkers came back to work at 34 weeks after being on bedrest for PTL. She worked up until her due date...
Good luck!

My first pregnancy I had PTL due to irritable uterus, previa and placental abruptions. I was on bedrest at 20 weeks with meds and eventually went back to work at 32 wks. I wasn't allowed to drive and just sat at my desk as much as I could. However, after a week I was back in the hospital and stayed on bed rest till delivery. I probably could have gone back to work after 36 weeks but I was afraid to risk it.
I do agree that stress can greatly affect your pregnancy. In my 1st preg, I had to intervene with problems with my brother-in-law and his children and the next day I was in the hospital.
Hope that things continue to stay stable for you!
