Will I regret spending so much on a mop?

I have a gift card to Target and really want the Shark steam mop (we have hard wood and tile).  Even with the card I'll be spending over $40 on it...is it seriously worth it?  I fear I'm looking for a miracle and I'll be disappointed.  But, I really want a new "toy"!

  • the novelty will wear off fast. i have something like it - after 2 weeks it was no longer fun..

i use swiffer wet jet - you can get one for $20 and it works just as well  -

  • I bought the steam fast one for 39 at Walmart.  It works good and was cheaper.  I do like it for tile but I still use my other mop too for my hardwood.  I do like the swiffer one too.

The wet jet was my other option. But steam seems so much more exciting!  Gah, my life is boring.

  • I have a Haan which was over $100 and I use it daily.
  • I love my steam mop. I think it does a WAY better job than wet swiffers. And I like that it cleans and sterilizes with just water so you don't have to use any chemicals. I have had mine a year and a half and my love for it is still going strong. And I paid like $70 for it :-)
  • I love mine, it cleans better and doesn't leave the residue like the wetjet - and it's ultimately cheaper since there are no solutions or tossable pads to buy (I did buy 2 extra pads for my steam mop, for like $15 maybe).

  • just do it...:)  it's for your home ...that is what i have to tell myself when i get a "fun" cleaning device

now a cute sweater?  i wouldn't think twice about...i am pathetic.

  • IMO the wet jet shouldn't be used as mop replacement - it's best for little spills or quick daily cleans, like surface cleaning. When you want to *clean* your floor, you still need something a little more significant (regular mop, steam cleaner, Floor Mate, etc.)
  • It didn't work well for me and I ended up returning it because the darn thing broke after just a couple months of use anyhow.

It was okay (nothing spectacular though) on tile, but it left my hardwoods all sticky and gummy. It's almost like the steam was melting the finish on the floor or something.

  • love it!! the wet jet just pushes the dirt around at my house.  now I mop all the time!  and it feels much cleaner!
