Getting through the being held phase

Ethan wants held constantly.  If you put him down he screams and cries.  how do you get through it? Let them cry?  He sounds like he is in pain and I wonder if his ears or teeth are bothering him.  But after ahwile he is fine and will get down and start playing

Re: Getting through the being held phase

  • Honestly.. I think its a weird age for him to be wanting to be held all the time unless something IS bothering him.. Eve doesn't want to be held much at all.. unless she is tired or hungry.. She just wants to make sure she can see us..

  • I think the same thing...he's probably bothered by something. I couldn't hold Evan for two seconds at that age (and still) he just wants to go, go, go.
  • i keep thinking he is teething but no new teeth have poked through.  He doesn't have a fever(that is how I am supposed to know the fluid in his ears is an ear infection). maybe he is developing seperation anxiety
  • When Justin is teething he used to be like that. Try to have a distraction ready before you put him down. If I suspected it was teeth, I'd have a freezie pop ready- I never opened them but he just loved to gnaw on it in the wrapper.

  • I agree that it sounds like he is teething or something is bothering him.  I LOVE Melanie's freezie pop idea, so I may have to try that next time Zoey seems to be teething.  We have done ice cubes in the mesh feeder and she loves to chew on them.  They sell them at Walgreens if you don't have one already.
