Which type of binky...

...did your LO like the best and actually stayed in their mouth better than a soothie?

I use it mostly to help her fall asleep and to help her wait until I can tend to her (if I need to do something with Evan right then) But the soothie keeps on popping out - I'm thinking because 99% of the weight of it is outside the mouth.

Any favs? (esp for BFers...any that caused issues with nursing?)

Re: Which type of binky...

  • we only used the soothie.  We never boughtthe older one.  Just the newborn or 0-3. Sorry  Icouldn't help you

  • We use the NUK ones.. I thought the soothies were cute so I wanted to use those.. but on a particularly rough evening when she was like 2 or 3 weeks old.. I was getting desperate so I went upstairs and got one of the NUK pacis I had got for my shower.. And there was sweet silence..I also tried the MAM ones but she didn't seem to love those.. they'll work in a pinch though.

Now she's addicted to them though..

  • We only use MAM. We have a pretty good stash of them. We got the 1st for free when he was hospitalized for jaundice and he became super attached and would not sleep without it as a newborn. We have never moved up to the bigger size and he is only allowed to have them in his crib.

  • G would only ever take soothie pacifiers so we went from those to gum drop pacifiers.  They come slightly scented like the vanilla of soothie or unscented too.

I still have 3 new in their individual bags- I'd pass them along to anyone since we have no use for them.

  • Soothies are scented?
  • Evan was never a big binky user, but when he did he only liked the MAM ones.

    Soothies are scented?

The one's we got from Sister's Hospital were scented, I guess it's relaxing.  I didn't even realize it until I was pacifier shopping online and realized there were options.  Then I put it together that she did smell very lightly sweet like vanilla candy

  • We are breastfeeding and use these playtex ones.  We've never had a problem.  Someone told me that they are longer and stay in their mouth better and are good for breastfeed babies.  I don't know if it's true, but they've worked for us.  My only complaint is that they can be kinda hard to find sometimes.  Target is often out of them, I haven't seen them at Walmart or Babies R Us, but have found them at Price Chopper and at Rite Aid.

  • I have tried them all but NUK is her favorite.  I am trying to push the avent one on her though since it doesn't matter if she puts it in up-side down.  She loves her NUKs though.
  • The only ones that ever worked were Soothies.  I tried giving her other types because I had the same thought as you, but she would make horrible faces and spit them out.
  • The only binks that stay in are NUKS. We tried a ton of different kinds and I threw them all out once we found NUKS worked.
