Probably stupid SA question

We have to do the SA on Monday...or should I say, I have to bring it into the office...embarrassing!  Anyway.  I read the pp about helping hubbie cope with the SA but had a few more questions.  I've been googling and seem more confused than when I started. 

I can't believe I'm about to ask this but the sample can't be "tainted" with saliva, but if oral stimulation is ceased before he's even close (about 3/4) and finished manually is that okay or not?

Does he need to abstain from caffeine and alcohol?

Does he need to drink more water than normal?

How soon do you hear the results and does it come from the lab or your Dr?

 Sorry for all the q's but one thing said this and another article said that.

I have heard on here that saliva isn't good so I just used my hands. I brought in his SA & but it in my waistband so my shirt was over it to keep it warm you have like 30mins to get it there.

Ah, thank you!  His eyes almost popped out of his head when he heard he'd have to refrain from his favorite activity for 3 whole days, I'd be scared if I had to tell him to put down the Mt Dew and tomato-beer too.

Thanks for the tip about keeping the sample warm!

I really do not think you are suppose to use saliva - I would not do anything that would mess up the sample.

For normal SA there is no need to cut out caffeine and alcohol.

No he does not need to drink more water than normal.

We got the results in about a week.  We met with the doctor.

I was just given these instructions as my DH is doing it on Monday too. They said masturbation only, no saliva, or other bodily fluids. They said he could use KY only, if needed.
