What to do with all of the things saved during the 1st year?

I have been saving all of his cards (1st holidays) and random things. All of the stuff from his birth (cards, hospital tags, newspaper from that day, etc), photos, etc.

Obviously it won't all fit in a baby book, so what do I do with it? I am thinking a memory box, but not sure what the box should actually be.

Am I saving too much?

My Mom saved all of our "bigger" stuff in a plastic tote. ?When we moved out she gave it to us and it was so neat to go back and see all the cute things she saved. ?I'm definitely doing it with my kids. ?

I used the enfamil baby bag they have me at the hospital. It had a million little pockets so I could separate things.

The year Eva was born, my parents bought DH and I a crystal decanter from Waterford for Christmas.  The box it came in is thick and sturdy (and really pretty too!).  I use that to keep all the things that are too big for Eva's baby book.  It sits on the shelf in her closet.

I only kept some of it for the baby book.  I took a picture of a group of other stuff and am making a shutterfly book and I will put it in there.  My mom kept EVERYTHING and it feels like clutter to me.  Of course she did it because her mom only kept some, and she wished she kept more.  Sucha  vicious cycle

We have one of those memory boxes... It matched her baby book.. but.. I was basically full after all her cards from her birth (I might have the baby shower ones in there too) and her birth announcement from the paper.. I have a CRAPLOAD of christmas/thanksgiving/easter/valentines day cards that I really don't know what to do with.. I don't WANT to throw them out.. but there are SO many.

I am a card saver too...don't know why...but I still have cards that were given to me for my 16th birthday!! Hello?!?! I am 33 now!! I need to throw them away!!  I have all the cards for LO...I am thinking of saving them and she can throw them away if she wants to when she is older.  I am also going to save things like her favorite binky, blanket, stuffed animal, drawings...ect. 

I am not a pack rat (only when it comes to cards), so saving all this stuff will be a challenge for me.

I have one of those boxes that are for photos full of stuff.  We don't have a baby book, so I try to save as much stuff as I can.  I don't know if I kept all the cards after she was born, though- I think I just have cards from grandparents and immediate family.
