I sent out my DD's party invites and I'm just curious as to when I should expect RSVPs - I didn't write an RSVP "by" date...
I usually have to follow up - its the same 'offenders' each time - they forget or assume I assume they are coming. I would think 2-3 week before the party, since that is generally how long a cake order should be put in by?
(grr... how hard is it to just drop someone a line when you get the invite, instead of making more work for the host?)
Re: When do you expect an RSVP by?
I really wouldn't expect people to say if they're coming til a week in advance for a bday party.. Eve'sparty is Sunday and there are still a couple people I haven't heard from even AFTER checking up..
Its partially my fault though, because I'm a moron and put regrets only on the invites so I had to follow up with pretty much everyone..because I didn't really know how many people were coming.. Lesson learned.

Our families always do "Regrets Only" for parties. You'll have more luck that way...people seem to find it easier to drop a line saying they can't make it for some reason.
I always put a date (usually about 5-7 days before the event) and still never get replies (from certain people)
When I threw my DH a surprise party, I had my email down (along w/ my phone #) so people could email a response and it worked really well. I think everyone RSVP'd on time. Of course this wouldn't work for everyone... my grandma probably doesn't know what email even is!
