My DH wakes me up this morning to tell me that our tax money was in the bank!! YAY!!! As soon as I got up, I got onto my bank website and used up every single cent we got from the IRS and put it into credit card bills that we accumulated during our wedding and some other stuff. Now instead of $18,000 we have $5000.. Its still a bit much, but we can have this paid off in 6 months before the LO comes. Now, the $18,000 would have taken a realllyyyyyyyyyyyy long time. We are just going to keep on paying a month what we have on credit cards until these last 5k are paid... Such a relief.....

I know how you feel. We just our first time homebuyer tax credit and we payed off the cards completely, put 3k in savings, and are puttting the rest towards the nursery and a new car.

Yeah we put $1000 in the bank, and are just going to pay the rest of in the course of these next 6 months.

Yay - good for you guys!  We are getting aroudn $6000 back and are very excited.  DH owes some back fed taxes from when he owned his own business (around $2500 balance remaining) so it will be nice to have that paid off and actually put some money into savings!

Good for you. I hear so many people taking their tax returns and just blowing it on stupid stuff, I'm glad to hear that there are people like you that are just plain SMART!
