I could use a little advice on K's future big girl room. She will be moving into what is now the guest room and it is a pale blue...similar to the blue in the fabrics. I can't decide if I want to leave the room blue or paint it light green. My budget is kinda small for the room and
we have to get furniture and the fabrics so it would help a little if I
left it blue BUT I'm still torn on if I want it green. (I'm torn too
b/c I would LOOOVE to paint our room a pale blue but don't know if that
would be 'bad' when we go to sell having 2 bedrooms blue)
IF I leave the walls blue (it's a very soft blue that matches the blue in the fabrics) would you do green drapes? I'm thinking if I could find some green drapes, maybe I could accent either the top or bottom with a coordinating fabric. I could also sew coordinating ribbons on the top as ties to bring in more color.
OR I was thinking I could do something similar to what I already have in the nursery. Two solid green panels and then a faux roman shade in the middle of either the polka dot or stripe. (see the last picture for K's current window)
Thank
you in advance for your opinion on the matter. DH is no help (all he
cares about is the bottom line LOL) I'm so indecisive and having the
hardest time picturing her new room and want to be smart with my
spending.

Re: NTR: Decorating help needed, please! PIP
Okay this is my opinion and it's not worth a lot lol.
Since you are being cost effective I'd leave the wall color. My thoughts personally if ya'll decided to paint ya'll's room blue too I wouldn't see an issue with having two rooms that are blue when you sale. Besides that blue color is sooo pretty
I like the thought of green drapes...and the faux roman shade in the middle is really cute, but adding ribbon would be cute and easy too.
One thing I was going to do if I had used that fabric was get a little extra, pull it over a couple of canvases and then put pictures on that canvas for some wall art.
Hopefully you can get some good ideas from the ladies. I really still love that fabric so much and I know K's big girl room will be super cute when you finish with it!
I haven't been around in a LONG time, but I decided to stop in and see what was going on. Anyway, I love the fabric you have chosen for her new big girl room. Do you mind sharing where you found it?
I think keeping the room blue would be pretty, and I probably wouldn't worry about having two blue rooms when you decide to sell your house. By the time you decide to sell, it is possible that you will have already painted one of the rooms a different color anyway. I really like the way you have her window treatments now and think that bringing in the green color in other ways would look cute.
I don't mind sharing at all! The fabric is by P Kaufmann and the paisley is called gypsy and the color is spring.

I love the fabrics you've chosen.
My vote is to stay with the blue (I love blue... plus we painted our extra bedroom a very similar green to that color and I hate it because it's so bright.)
Also, I love the style of roman shade with the panels. I would definitely go with that.
I can't wait to see how it turns out!
This sounds bad, especially since K is only 10 months old, but I look forward to eventually moving her into her "toddler" room and changing everything over again. I love her nursery, but I have a major decorating bug right now.

This!
Those are great fabrics and 2 blue rooms in the house would be fine {when I bought my house there were 6 rooms painted the same color}...it's sounds like you're wanting a neutral blue for your MBR so it wouldn't be an issue anyhow.
Now, this is purely my opinion: I love the idea of the faux roman shade and the drapes flanking the window. I don't really know the "look" that you might be going for for K's big-girl room, but I'd like to suggest doing patterned drapes {love that polka dot} & then the solid green for the shade. That way you'd have a solid-colored wall, patterned drapes, then the inside of the window would be solid {alternating solid-pattern-solid}. If you wanted to add just a bit more detail on the roman shades, you could sew contrasting ribbon around the edges to outline the shade {mimicking the embroidery on "Hotel Collection" linens}.
Can't wait to see how you style & decorate K's big girl room!!!
