Blair...

Hi Blair just a quick question about Harrison and when you started to give him cereal 2x a day to help with his reflux...

Did you pediatrician reccomend that over adding it to his bottles? or did you try that first? how much did you start giving him?

Per our pediatricians reccomendation we tried adding it to LO's bottles but found that he then STRUGGLED to poop (I mean full on sounding like a farm animal when he was trying to poo) did harrison experince any problems when you started adding cereal into his diet?

We stopped the oatmeal after we saw him struggling to poop but have noticed a HUGE increase in spitting up and projectile vomiting since we stopped...

Oh and I am totally identifying with you when in your blog you did the whole entry about the devil living in his throat!

Re: Blair...

  • Oh, that sucks :(

He never suggested to put it in his bottles - he always said to just spoon-feed it.  We started with rice cereal, & just a few teaspoons prior to a bottle twice per day (usually his 9am bottle & then he last bottle of the day around 7pm).  He had problems with rice cereal due to it's soy content, so we switched to oatmeal.  He does a few tablespoons now & LOVES it.

I'm not going to lie - it is hard work spoon-feeding a 2.5 month old.  It's not fun, or cute, or what you dream of the first time you give your kid solids.  Simply because he doesn't have the skills to manage it well.

I can always tell if he's had too much oatmeal because he gets a little constipated.  Maybe make sure he's not eating too much of it??

    Good luck!
