Thoughts on highchairs vs booster seats

So I need to buy a highchair/booster seat for Mia since I told my MIL that I would get one for her house now (silly me).

I havent had her in one yet but she's just about ready.

I'm trying to decide if I should get a highchair or a booster seat. What are the pros/cons of them? What do you think is better and why? Would you reccommend yours?

i have a high chair, and i like it. for home. if i were to buy one for someone elses house (which i have to) im buying a booster. they make them now where they have a tray or can be used up against the table. i like that. i kind of wish i just got one of those for home. especially now that im pregnant with #2, im going to be buying one anyways.

We have this as a travel highchair and I have seriously considered selling our full-size high chair (Chicco Polly) and using this daily.

I guess it depends on what your MIL has the room for.  I have seen some nice boosters but also IKEA has some inexpensive high chairs that I have heard good things about.

When it comes to things like this (high chairs, walkers, jumperoos, car seats) - I like to take Grant to store (like BRU) and test some out. Of course, do it when LO is most likely to be in a good mood and the store less busy. 

Some things look better abstractly - without LO - than are practical or work for your LO.

We have a booster seat for home and I like it just fine.  The tray isn't as big as it would be on a high chair, but DD doesn't seem to mind the smaller tray.  I like it because we can put it away easily when we have company over and aren't using it.

I had originally registered for a high chair for my baby shower, but my co-workers got us a booster instead.  One of them (a mother of twins) had mentioned how much easier it was for her to handle the booster and thought I would like it better.  She was right.  I have taken it to family parties and can just strap it on to a chair instead of lugging a high chair around or wondering where KP will sit while we eat.  I also just send it with him to MIL's house so there is no need to buy a separate high chair for him to keep there.  Just send the booster.

We have the anka highchair at home and keep a travel booster seat at my mom's (I think she got it at Costco).  LO is able to sit in that and be close to the table (there is no tray) and she likes it.

same here. My BFF suggested just getting a booster and that is what we use. We don't have a high chair at home and bring the booster with us. I am thinking of getting a second one to keep in the car. We have the Fisher prices healthy care booster seat. We love it.
