Can I make macaroni without butter?

I have: a bag of noodles (they are hamburger helper elbow noodles, but they will work just as well), a block of velveeta cheese, and milk at home.. but no butter. And seasonings.

What's the best way to make macaroni and cheese? Is it okay to not use butter?

Oh, and I want to add fresh broccoli to it.

  • Totally.  I never ever use butter to make it.
  • Thanks! Sounds so good for lunch!
  • In college if I didn't have one of the ingredients (butter or milk) I would just use a little bit of the other to subsititue.  Always came out fine.  Just add a little more milk.

  • I wouldn't use butter with velveeta anyways.  The only time I use butter is if I am doing a baked mac and cheese or from a box that requires it!

to make your noodles not stick since you have no butter, put a little but of Olive Oil in the water when boiling ...

  • With the velveeta cheese I would think you don't need butter
