I just got home from the hospital today so I will write a quick birth story - not really too involved since it was a scheduled c section.
On Sat we went to the hospital for our scheduled c section. I was 38 weeks. I was very nervous, but things moved fast once we got there. They had a lot of trouble getting the IV in correctly and I can honestly say that was one of the most painful parts of the day. Once they got someone else to do it, I ended up with an IV in my right hand which was a pain in the a**. Before I knew it I was walking into the operating room. My blood pressure was a little high the whole morning and the week before at the dr. I hopped up on the table and it was a go! The epi was SO not bad. I swear I barely felt the whole thing. I was so worried about it, but it really was no biggie. I layed down and once they were ready, DH came in. I did feel tons of pulling and tugging which is REALLY weird cause it so wasn't painful, but uncomfortable. in about 20 minutes, i had both babies! she was 5 lbs 10 ozs and he was 6 lbs 7 ozs. I was getting a ton of displaced pain in my chest and shoulders to the anesth. gave me "something" and it kind of made me out of it, so I really didn't get to enjoy hanging out with them for a few, but DH did. Then they were taken off to the nursery. To be honest, by the end of the surgery, I had enough of the pulling and tugging and couldn't wait to be done. in recovery i had high BP and slow urine output so I was there a while... a long long while. I was able to have both babies in there with me for a bit, but then they had to run a few more tests and I sent them back. After regulating everything and finally figuring out that I was really dehydrated which is why I wasn't "outputting" I was able to leave
I finally got a room and we hung out with the babies for a bit then went to bed - I still had the epi cath in my back, the foley and the IV. All of that was taken out the next morning by 9am. Freedom! I am not going to lie, Sunday I felt like a got run over by a truck, but by monday I felt worlds better, by discharge I was so mobile. I was sent home with some painkillers, motrin, colace and iron since I lost a little extra blood during the surgery. Bleeding has been minimal - I have used my pads and honestly, barely any bleeding - I could use one pad a day if it wasn't disgusting, but just trying to give a picture of how little bleeding I had.
The babies are wonderful and it is totally all worth it...... every second of it. DH is very against "online" stuff, so I am going to respect his wishes and not post pics. They are too cute and I am so excited to get more good advice on this board now that they are here!
Re: my twins are here! c section story
Congrats! Enjoy these first few days (they may be difficult) but they are also amazing
Care to share the names? If not (because of DH) I understand
congrats! sorry you had some difficulties but glad you are feeling good now!
I hardly bleed at all after the first day- the nurse said with a c/s they can scape things out pretty good (vs the heavy bleeding i had for a long time with my vag birth).
enjoy them!
Congratulations!
Thats awesome! Congrats!!
