How many of you have a set bed time?
DD us to go to bed around 730-8. Not anymore :+(
Last night she feel a sleep in her play room @ 730. I knew it was early for her and knew she might wake up. Well she did around 11. DH changed her and I guess tried to get her back to bed. Which we all know was he changed her an put her back in her playroom to play. Well at 12 I hear her throwing her mega blocks. Her playroom is right next to mine. I get up and DH is in the living room playing PS3. REALLY!!!!! So I tell him it is not playtime it is bed time and he says she is not tired. I dont care if the 13month thinks she is not tired. It is 12 and its bedtime. Ok vent over.
So I think she needs a bedtime that we stick to. Right now she plays till she is tired. I let her go till 10 and then I put her to bed. Most of the time she will go to sleep. But DH lets her play till she crashes in her playroom which sometimes can be past 10.
So what time do you think is good for a 13month old?
Re: Do you have a set bed time?
Noah goes to bed at 8:00. That has been his bedtime since he was about 9-10 months old. I start the bedtime routine at about 7:30. He gets to read a book on the couch, brush teeth, pajamas on, book in bed and then he listens to music while he falls asleep.
Yes, but he's much younger. He goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 unless there's something else going on. We start bedtime routine between 6:30 and 7pm.
I plan to stick to this until he's a good deal older (like 3 years old).
exactly! routine, routine, routine... the 4b's, Jamie: book, bath, bottle or boob & bed. we've been following that since Georgia was about 4.5 months. Early, I know, but she got used to it and now, it's every night. Now, when she is teething or cranky or just had a dr's visit, fine... we work with her. Other than that, Georgia is usually asleep by about 8:15pm, every night other than when we go out to dinner, etc.
It's also important for them to get enough sleep. Sure Skylar 'wants' to play but she needs her sleep. I would look up the rec'd time needed for her age.
I can go in more detail via email/FB with the exact order we do everything down to the music if you'd like. This is one accomplishment I am proud. Oh and DH was on board from the beginning. That is important too! GL!
My babies go down between 7-8pm and bedtime routine begins between 6-7 pm. They are used to the bedtime routine of book, bath, lotion, music, bottle and bed since we've been doing it the day they came home from the NICU even when they woke up every 3-4 hours. I wanted them to know ASAP that it was nighttime and time to sleep. From early on, middle of the night feedings were quiet, dark, etc and they learned quick. We've never had a problem and they've been STTN since 3 mths old for the most part unless teething or something. They wake beteen 6-7am usually.
My husband loves to follow it because once they go down, we have our time or if I'm out he has his time. Like last night they were down by 7pm, I was out and he had the whole night to himself and loved it. We all know what to expect this way so there's no confusion. We yet to even have to use any "method" to get them to sleep., No CIO or anything. Of course that can all change someday but it's working well now.
Yes. Robbie goes down at 9. Been this way since he was about 1. I work later hours (9:30-6) so he doesn't have to be up until about 8:30. At this age, they should be getting about 14 hours of sleep/day. Usually 12 at night and 2 for naps.
Anyway, he gets a bath every other night, but the rest of it is every night. Book, breathing treatment (whee CLD!), pajamas, I sing him a song while we rock, then he goes into his crib and we start his night drip (through the G tube) all his animals tell him g'night, we tell him goodnight, turn on his music and it's light's out.
It's very, very, very rare for him not to go down at 9. Even if I let him stay up a little later (say 9:30) because we have company, he gets REALLY sleepy then.
