cake but no frosting...can anyone help me whip some up?

i have a box of cake mix and i want to make it...but i have no frosting.  i'm no big baker, but maybe there's a quick frosting recipe that i can make out of stuff i already have (flour, sugar, vanilla, etc)?  anyone know of one? i'll even take a good glaze...thanks!

a little shortening, some confectionary (powered) sugar, a little almond, and a tiny drop of water. Yum!

1 tub whipped cream

1 package cream cheese...

2 cups powdered sugar + 1 stick room temp butter + 1 tsp. vanilla extract, and then a little bit of milk to make it the right consistency.

1 cup crisco (or butter)

1 package confect sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract

4-6 tablespoons of water

Mix on med for about 5-7 mins

I'm not a frosting fan and bake cake and eat it nice and warm from the pan with no frosting. DH thought this was a little weird, now he asks for it all the time. So that's my advice, don't be afraid to leave it off.

i may have to.  i just realized i have only a few tbsp of confectioners sugar...darn.  but i want cake!
