Coughing to get your attention

I read that around DS's age (5 months) they might start to learn to "cough" to get your attention. I am 68.4% sure that he did this to me this morning, but the jury is still out. I think it's hilarious. (Except for when it's a real cough of course.)

Anyone notice their LO's doing this?

Max does this on a daily basis now. Sometimes, he does it for laughs. Other times... he will be sitting in his jumparoo or some other device, and I can hear him from another room. As soon as I come in, it stops!

We call him "Ava" around these parts. That's the name of my great great grandmother who used to fake cough just to get people to bring her goodies.

My nephew did it, and it was hilarious. He was great at the 'fake cough' game, and I would encourage it all of the time, much to my SIL's dismay. I'm sure she'll pay me back now that I'm the one with a baby.

I think she is just starting to do this. I was nervous at first, but I'm pretty sure she just likes how it sounds!

i was wondering the same thing today. shes so evil, lol. i go to see whats going when she does this, she just smiles and giggles at me.

That is hilarious, good old granny! J started doing the fake coughing about a month ago and thought it was great fun. Now he has an actual cold, so the pretending has been put on hold.

Yes, she does it everyday. We laugh at her because the cough is sooo fake! She smiles and totally gives herself away.

dd does this too now, and does a clearing the throat thing - she's not sick, but she smiles when i come to her afterward.

Oh boy... we haven't made it to that point yet. Although, DD does "pouty face" on demand right now when she wants something. I don't know what I will do when she figures out that I run when she coughs.
