6 months is approaching too fast! I need your tips for starting the rice cereal and then baby food. DD is not a big eater, she only drinks 4 oz every 3 hrs and nothing through the night.
Ditto PP. Our Pedi said we didn't have to start with rice cereal. Any single grain cereal or fruit/veggie is fine to start with. We started at 4 months and I tried rice cereal for a week just so that DD would get used to the whole spoon thing. I figured it was cheaper than wasting fruits/veggies if she didn't take to it. Start off with a small amount about an hour before or after a bottle. We also started with one meal a day at 4 months and are now doing 2 meals a day at 6 months.
Our pedi told us we could skip cereal and go straight to food. We started with a veggie (sweet potatoes) and moved onto fruits. We only fed 1 oz of sweet potatoes at supper time. I have now moved up to 1 oz of fruits for breakfast, 1 oz of veggies at lunch time, and 1 oz of fruits and 1 oz of veggies at supper. We have only started the 3 times a day in the last 2 days.
Re: Help with starting rice cereal and food
You don't actually have to start with rice cereal. It's just a common route to take.
I wish I had tips for you but my LO is so NOT interested in food!
Oh sweet! I live in Westphalia, near Lansing...so not too far at all.
