In the summer, we bought DS a full size bed (new mattress, new headboard) and we decorated a whole new room for him. It's been hell since then, and he refuses to sleep in his bed for more than a couple hours at a time, and he has been in our bed from about midnight on every single night since about August. He always has a different excuse...ranging from "dark in there, too bright in there, my socks don't match," you name it. It is a rather big bed, one that he'll probably have forever. Last night he wouldn't go in his bed and he said "no like this bed, it's too big." He started talking about his friends race car bed, which really is way more his size.
Here's my question: I found a toddler bed with bedding on Craigslist, it was $90 or best offer, so I offered $50 just to see what she says. Am I ridiculous to even consider getting this other bed....I don't want him to think- hey I didn't do what I was supposed to and I said I wanted a car bed and voila-there it is! Or am I not ridiculous for thinking that for $50, he might sleep again?
Re: Is this ridiculous?? (toddler bed)
My son started off in a car bed-he loves it, but now we're thinking of moving him to a twin/full size bed by his 3rd bday.

I'm not buying a new twin mattress, since we just forked over good money for his brand new full mattress and headboard, but this takes a crib mattress, and we put an eggshell mattress on it so it's comfy. I give up.

I 100% think you should do it. All of you getting some good rest and him learning to sleep in his own bed in his own room (assuming that's what YOU want) is important. I bet in a year or so he'll be ready for his big bed back. And I don't think that by giving him exactly what he asks for in this case is a bad thing. It's not like you give him whatever he wants with everything else.
Good luck! I hope he does well!
DD thinks her twin bed is too big - she has to sleep with one of those body pillows and a zillion stuffed animals. She likes to feel safe and secure and likes to snuggle - otherwise she ends up in our bed. Have you tried any of that?
At this point, I'd fork over the $50 though. Grab it while you can, re-sell it later.
that is exactly what we have. DS loved it at first because it's "fun."
I'd try it, worst case scenario he doesn't sleep in it then you just put it on CL again and get your money back out of it. And I don't think he'll see it as "I got what I want" kinda thing, he'll just be excited to have a cool bed.
