Does anyone wake up in the morning with their left hip hurting from having to sleep on your left side. At least I can sleep through most of the night and I'm sure this is only the beginning of not getting a peaceful night's sleep. Any suggestions.. I've tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs.. but it doesn't work.
Re: left hip pain
i know alot of people say to sleep on the left side, but i flipped back and forth. was on bedrest so i flip-flopped all day and night. when the hips/legs/sciatica hurt, i flipped. having a pillow behind me, and a body pillow in front (also wrapped legs around) helped. not much room left for my husband though
ditto this. I actually asked my MFM about lying on the right side and he said it was fine as long as I felt ok (no shortness of breath, etc.). So I flip back and forth about every 2 hours - basically whenever I have to get up to pee.
And my husband moved to the guest room a couple of months ago due to my snoring.
you don't have to stay on the left all night - it's just the best for blood flow- so you'll want to lay on the left if there are worries about BP, contrax, etc... but sleeping on either side is fine at night- my OB even said to sleep on my back if that was the only way i could sleep- that SLEEPING and resting my body was most important and my body would tell me to roll over if i was on my back too long.
I usually propped pilllows on the sides of me so that i could not ever be totally flat -- i'd sleep on my back but sort of on an angle.
as for the hips hurting- sorry, but that will happen no matter how you sleep (most likely)... your hips are spreading --- it was so bad for me my first pg - the only thing that made it feel better was to get up and walk around... NOT good for sleeping!
it wasn't as bad with my 2nd pregnancy- i think b/c my hips were already spread out

Thanks for the advice.. I figured either it would go away on it's own or it would be something that I would just have to live with. We'll see.
