So I dropped the boys off at school this morning and headed to the dollar store to pick up some plastic tablecloths for DS#2's birthday party this Sunday.  I got those and a couple of other party items they had for $1 and headed to check out. I stood at the register for a minute while the lovely lady came over to check me out. As soon as she gets there she starts complaining. She is telling me all about how they need to hire more people because she can't stock and check people out at the same time. Then she starts telling me how she's in a bad mood because she wants a some chocolate and she doesn't have 61 cents to buy any. She even looked in the floor of the store for some change. (maybe that's why she didn't have time to stock?) Anyway, she goes on to tell me about how she's so broke because she just bought a new car with her tax refund and even pointed this gem out in the parking lot so I could see it.

Oh, it gets even better now. Then she said she was 3 months pregnant. I asked her if it was her first, nope this is her 3rd. At this point I was thinking well I have a dollar bill I should just give it to her for some chocolate, I mean she is pregnant ya know? She had already mentioned need money about 4 more times. Then she tells me how she's been to the hospital 3 times because she is bleeding so bad (way TMI for someone you don't know). Then she says something about how that's another reason she is so broke is because she had to scrape up enough money to get an abortion. That's when I got really confused...  She then started saying how the baby wasn't attached right and that's what was causing the bleeding and they couldn't do a D&C because of that.

I got all this info in the time it took her to ring up my 30 items. I never did giver her the money because she said she got an abortion. But I'm still confused about the whole can't get a D&C thing.. I don't know if she just added that in because she realized how much info she just told me or what?

I don't know but really? WHO gives some random person that much information while checking them out?

Re: My lovely cashier at the dollar store...

  • Wow... that's quite the odd experience.
  • Sorry, I'm still stuck on the fact that you were actually going to give Senorita Loca some cash until she mentioned aborting.  Which, to be honest, if she's that broke, is probably the smartest idea she's had lately.

no Kori, no chocolate for aborters!

  • Wow.  I wouldn't have known what to say.

I feel sorry for people like that sometimes.  Then sometimes I think it is their own fault and they need to make better choices.  KWIM?

  • Yeah I was going to give her a dollar because she was pregnant - then she said she had an abortion, so she's not really pregnant now.
  • Ahhh, so you were just going to feed the pregnancy craving but since she's no longer.....

    ???
