Infertility

Home from ER

Well, I'm home from my ER. They said everything went well. We had 15 eggs retrieved. RE was very pleased with that number, though I was expecting more based on the u/s. The only thing that threw me was they decided to do ICSI which we were not expecting. DH's volume was low today, everything else was fine. Other SA's have come back great, so I wasn't expecting this. Should I be worried? I guess it gives us better chances though I suppose. They will call with my Fert Report tomorrow and we're still looking at a 5dt at this point. Not in any pain at the moment, but they did put something in my IV right before we left. Any PPV or T&P are appreciated that our little embies grow.

Re: Home from ER

  • Lots of PPV for a wonderful fert report tomorrow! And I don't think you have to worry about the volume if they are doing ICSI, but I'm no expert. GL!
  • Great news!!

I wouldn't worry about the ICSI, they just want to give them the best chance possible.  Volume can vary.

  • Good Luck... I wouldn't worry about them wanting to do ICSI they just want to give them the best chance possible! We are unexplained, DH has always had good SA however we are planning on doing ICSI for our IVF cycle too.

  • Good luck.  Don't worry about the ICSI, they probably just wanted better chances of fertilization.
  • that's a great number!! I wouldn't worry about the ICSI either - it will likely increase your fertilization rates. rest up!

  • That's great!! Looking forward to your fert report tomorrow!! I agree with pp's that the volume doesn't matter with ICSI. :)

  • 15 is terrific! And you definitely don't need to worry about volume if you do ICSI. All they need to do is fine 15 shiny spermies! Good luck!

  • Good luck! That's a great number.  I think ICSI is a good thing--gives them an extra push.
