XP: arms reach co-sleeper question

How important is it for safety and comfort to have the arms reach co-sleeper at the same height as our mattress? Our bed is kind of high so we would have to reach down 5-6 inches to pick up the babies. I'm going to look  into getting the leg extenders to raise the co-sleeper to our mattress height. But I'm just wondering what your experience has been with the height of the mattress. thanks!

Re: XP: arms reach co-sleeper question

  • Hmm ... I think if you're going to spend the $$ on a cosleeper rather than a PnP, it's probably worth it to have it at the same height. I also wonder if there would be an issue with the baby closer to your bed rolling over against your mattress and smothering. :(

  • I think if you have a c section, it would be important to have the co-sleeper at the same height as your mattress.  We bought bed lifts at IKEA that were only about $10 and worked well.  If you're anywhere near Boston, you can have ours!

we're in VA, so not quite close enough to Boston. Do you have a link to the IKEA ones? My parents go to IKEA all the time (in ATL) and could probably pick them up for us.

I just checked and I can't find them on the web site.  We had an original co-sleeper that's about 5 years old at this point.  If your parents go to the store, I would just suggest that they ask someone who works there.  GL!
