Do you keep cards?

My mom sent DD a Valentine's Day card.  She dated it and wrote a little message to her.  She obviously would like us to keep it.

My mom is a packrat and hoarder, to the point where she can't open the door to a room in her house.  According to her, EVERYTHING has sentimental values.  She recently asked me for a card that my grandmother sent for my wedding three years ago.  Except for one or two very special cards from my DH (like an anniversary one where he wrote a special note), I don't keep cards.

Do you keep them?  Would you set this aside for DD?  I guess I don't want to encourage my mom but also don't want to offend her.  Besides sticking it in her baby book, I don't know what I'd do with it.

My dad and stepmom also sent a card but they don't expect us to do anything with it except maybe put it on the fridge for a while before throwing it out.

Re: Do you keep cards?

  • I am not a packrat by any means but I do save DD's cards in her baby book.  I would save it.

  • I pick and choose. In this case, I guess I'd save it just because it's her first. I'm not a very sentimental person though, and I have no problem throwing stuff away.

  • I might just cut out any personal written messages and stick them on a page in a scrapbook appropriate to the holiday/event, unless the card is hand-made.
