2nd Trimester

zantac and tums?

Anyone know if you can take both? Neither is quite doing the trick for me these days... I plan on talking to my doctor next week about getting some kind of prescription if I can.

  • You can. The perscription my OB gave me, is the same you can buy over the counter. Zantac 150 2x per day. Maybe you can call your office and see if they would suggest that for you. Hope it gets better.
  • You can, but my Dr said that Zantac and Maalox/Mylanta will actually work better.  I switched to that combination a few weeks ago and it definitely helps more than Tums.

Hmm thanks for that tip! I will definitely ask them what they suggest, but I should try that too.

  • Yes you can take them together. With dd I would take a zantac in the morning, Another one around dinner and tums before bed.
  • I have just started Pepcid AC that is approved to take.  It has been working wonders for me.
  • Try pepcid AC it worked so good for me. I took it the same time every day and I only took it for about 3 weeks and then I felt fine after. I take one here or there if I am going out to eat, just because you never know how their food will effect you.

  • Drink milk. It's just as effective and helps you to not rely on drugs.

Yeah milk's great - until I puke it up 5 minutes later. Vomiting actually doesn't help my heartburn, reflux. Zantac + tums ftw!

LOL!  Yep, milk makes me puke too!  I can usually last about 10 minutes after drinking it.  Sadly, sometimes it's worth it :)
