Baby Names

Need some help...

Ok ladies, my husband and I are 13 weeks pregnant and loving every minute of it!  We've decided to not find out the sex of the baby and going to let it be a huge surprise!  So we want to make sure we have both a boy and a girl name ready.  We're pretty set on the name Jessa for a little girl and she'll take my middle name of LouAnn.  We're stuck on a boys name though...

Here's what we're thinking either Nolan or Leighton (pronounced lay-tin).  Either would have the middle name of Jaymes.  Which one do you guys like better and what, if any, pros and cons can you think for either name?  I appreciate all you input!! Thanks!

Re: Need some help...

  • i love nolan!  why not james as opposed to jaymes?  nolan james sounds nice together :)
  • I like Nolan too...

I've always seen Leighton as a girl's name.... but maybe that's my area.

  • Not a fan of Jaymes unless there is some family significance.

James is great.  I would go with Nolan because I think of Leighton as a girl's name.

  • i think your girl's name is adorable, and i agree with PPs in that leighton seems very feminine (perhaps due to the popularity of leighton meester?).

nolan jaymes is just fine. (i'm assuming your 'jaymes' spelling is a family thing.)

  • Jessa is not my style, but not horrible. Leighton I can only see as a girls name. It just looks and sounds extremely feminine to me. I would feel bad for a boy with that name. I do like Nolan James though (but only with James spelled correctly). Good for you for going Team Green. We tried but didn't last very long. haha...Congrats!
  • Nolan James (please don't put in the random "y").  I'm not a fan of Leighton.  It looks more like a girls name to me.
  • Cute.  But I would do JAMES for a boy, and JAYMES for a girl.  the "Y" makes it look a little to feminime...

  • Unless it's a family name, I would definitely spell Jaymes "James."

Either of your boy names sound fine with James. I don't know any girl Leightons. I only know it as a last name, so I don't think it's necessarily a girl name.

  • I like Lleyton for a boy (as in the the professional tennis player, Lleyton Hewitt).

  • I absolutely adore the name Leighton for a boy!! I also love the name Nolan but it is my mother's MN so I might be a little biased there.
