Baby Showers

Inexpensive invites?

I am in charge of sending out invites for a good friend's shower. I can't justify spending more than $.50 per invite, esp since that doesn't include postage.

I'm having trouble finding invites that are both cute and inexpensive. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Inexpensive invites?

  • .50 per invite is actually a decent price.

--Check out vistaprint - I've created invites for the last 2 showers I've hosted.

--Another option would be to get some "fill in the blank" type invites from Target or someplace else.

--if you are crafty, make your own!

  • I second K.a.T.e.'s ideas.  You can also find cute ones at the dollar store.  I had to do a shower on a very limited budget a few years ago (I had $50 and that was it) and that is where I found the invites and all the paper supplies and decorations.

  • I usually make a full page invitation on my PC, then  I print it in color, tri-fold it and mail it in a legal envelope.  I think they look really nice.

Otherwise, you can get stationary from Staples (or similar stores) and print it on that, which is what was done for my baby shower.

  • I got some really nice colored invitations for a welcome home party for DH from vistaprint. I suggest them. They looked nice and arrived on time. I would def use them again!

  • I was going to buy through vista print but I ended up designing my own and printing them on a really nice linen paper at a local print shop for all of $17 for 50 invites and envelopes!!  It was such a great deal!

  • I hear ya! And most places want to charge atleast $1.30! The guest list is at 60 for the shower I'm throwing, so the cost of invitations would have been outrageous, plus the cost of postage! I went to a crafts store and bought card stock, vellum paper, and some really cute baby feet charms, and some Martha Stewart sticky ribbon, and made my own. It depends on how fancy you want them to be, but I think everything cost me about $35.00 (not including postage). If you have the time and energy, I'd say DIY!
  • I usually make my own invites/cards in photoshop and then get it printed at local photo center.  In my area Sam's Club is the cheapest with $0.38 per 5x7 print.   HTH

  • The invites my sister ordered came from www.Etsy.com

The graphic designer made the changes we wanted on the card. It cost about $15 for the design and then we had them printed out at costco since it was a photo. It was very inexpensive way to get something different and original. I also had her modify it to make Thank You cards which were then printed out from VistaPrint.com. They were running a special and I ended up with 50 thank you cards with envelopes and 240 return address labels for under $30.
