Trying to Get Pregnant

Newbie Into and a Question

Hi ladies
I am a newbie to the board. One of my girlfriends recommended I come over here to seek out some info.  My name is Lindsay. DH and I have been married for almost 4 years. I'm 27.
DH and I have been TTC for about 10 months.  I got off the pill probably the month before. I temped for a few months, but got insane with it (it made me absolutely crazy that I couldn't figure it out) and stopped.
Last month after 28 days came and went I decided to test. I took a blue hpt and got an extremely faint line. Following that I took two dollar store tests and a digital. They all came back negative. I got my period on day 35.
This month seems to be similar. Today is day 34 and there is no sign of anything. I took a test on Monday (Day 31) and it was negative.
I guess my real question is how could I have gone from having my period regularly on days 28-30 and now I'm going towards 35? If I don't get it tonight I will probably test tomorrow.
Oh, and I am seeing my gyn on the 25th of this month anyway.
Thanks ladies!

  • Welcome and best of luck!

It's normal to have a few longer or shorter cycles every now and then.  No one is like clockwork.

  • Hello and welcome! There could be many reasons why your cycles are changing. It could be stress, travel, or pretty much anything else that changes your regular routine. You are just ovulating later than normal for soem reason. I'm sorry! Another thing, don't use blue dye tests! They are known for giving false positives. Good luck and I really hope you get your BFP soon!

  • Your cycle could very well be "off" right after BC, so it's your body trying to regulate yourself. There's also a possibility you had a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage). Same thing happened to me, although I had 4 faint pregnancy tests say positive and on day 35 (typical cycle) I started to bleed, which my doctor said it was due to the chemical pregnancy. When we first started TTC, I never even got a period, so my doctor put me on Provera to kick start it.

Good luck, I know it's frustrating but hang in there.

  • Hey! It's hard to say what's going on without knowing when you ovulated.  You may just be having a long cycle, it happens.  I'd probably reduce my frequency of testing (but I'm cheap) and just wait it out.  Not the answer you want, I'm sure.  :) Good luck!

Listen to mchupie, she speaks the truth.

I am typically a 28-30 day cycle girl.  For the past 4 years (since I have been off BC), that's how it has been.  Maybe once or twice a year I have a 32 or 33 day cycle.  Two months ago, I had a 37 day cycle. Cycles varying is not abnormal.  You really only have to worry if you're cycles are excessively long (more than 60 days).

    Good luck!

What was it that you were having trouble with?  Were you using a program like fertilityfriend.com?
