bloggers...can u help me?

I just started blogging a few days ago.  I can't seem to figure out how to "follow" others.  I clicked a "follow" button on a few blogs I liked, but I don't where that list is for me to get back to them?  I'd like them listed on my main page of my blog right above where I have my followers...isn't that possible?

Thanks in advance.

Re: bloggers...can u help me?

  • oh and how can i make my blog link here clicky in my signature?
  • I get to my blogs by going to the blogger.com home page.  They are all there. I have that page book marked and it is also where I go to create a new blog entry.

  • OH, I can help w/ the clicky.  One sec.

'k, where you have "www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com", you want to put:

    <a href=www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com>www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com</a>

(the stuff that's in the 'a href' tag = the link.  The stuff that's between the ahref tag and the /a at the end = what will be clickable.

So if you want to make words other than the blog addy clickable, you'd do:

    <a href=www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com>CLICKY TEXT HERE</a>

ok great, just tried that and found them.  but is there a way to get them show as a little avatar icon on my main blog page that is public?...so everyone would see who I am following?

  • All the blogs that I follow (including yours) are listed on my dashboard in the Blogs I'm Following Section. Like PP said, I bookmarked this page cause you can create new posts from here, too.

Yes, you can list the blogs you follow on your blog. Go to the layout tab and click add a gadget. Then click on bloglist. It will then create a list of the blogs you follow on your blog. HTH

  • hmm..  i can't get it to be clicky...maybe it really takes the 10 minutes??

Ok I did that, but none of the people I'm following are showing up as an icon there... it just says "My blog list".

I appreciate all the help! :)  I obviously need to read more setup stuff on there.

    Check your PMs!

  • hm.  It mouseovers and underlines but doesn't click.  So it's recognizing a link but not takig there.  Let me poke a bit further.

ETA, doh, it probably needs the https at the front...

    https://www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com/

    replace this:

    <a href=www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com>www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com</a>
    with:
    <a href=https://www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com/>www.fostadoptoption.blogspot.com</a>

     See if that fixes it.

  • A few things:

Once you add the blog list gadget, you need to add the blogs you read to the list.  Go to layout, click on the blog list gadget and add a blog to the list.  There should be an option to add the blogs you follow, but you can also just type the addresses in.

I see you have a followers list, but there isn't a button for any readers to hit to actually follow your blog.  Not sure what the problem is, because it's usually automatic.  Maybe try deleting the gadget and adding it back?  The only other thing it might be is the template you are using won't let you add these gadgets.

ETA:  I just read your latest post and so much of it I can relate with.  I think I will really enjoy reading your blog.  If I can offer some other advice about blogging...be aware of the length of your paragraphs, it helps readers to see more white space or to have the words broken up with photos or links.  Of course it's your blog so do what is comfortable for you...I still plan to read it.  Smile

  • Your blog is llinky now! Good job!

I actually think it might be a limitation on my work computer.  I can't see followers on my own blog either.  Sorry for the confusion!
