When DD kept sitting up straight in the sling (she wouldn't stay in the recline position). Now she just sits in the sink. I miss the sling though...it makes hair-washing a lot easier!
When he could sit up on his own but wasn't mobile (around 4 months) I had a little blow-up tub that sat in the big tub. When he became mobile (7 months) I just started putting him in the tub by himself. He likes it better b/c he can play with all the toys more easily.
We still use it because DD is small enough and it makes it easy. We'll probably stop soon because I think she is going to start to want to play in the water soon.

stopped using the sling at 3 months old. He leaned back on the sloped side until he could sit up around 4 1/2 months. Then was in the bigger end sitting on his own until he was crawling out of the baby tub at 6 1/2 months. We've been in the big tub since then....

Quit using the sling at a bout 4 months and have been bathing him with me since then. It has been very easy that way, up until now. I'm looking for a bathseat now.
To the PP,this is a bathseat I think pretty much all have been recalled b/c people we're leaving their kids in it alone and they were tumping over. They shouldn't be unsupervised in the first place.
I think we stopped using the sling when she was around 5 months, and ditched the infant tub altogether around 6 mo. Since then she just sits in the big tub.
We love it. It has the suction cups on the bottom, and it folds up pretty flat. You need to have a non slip floor or mat down though, for the suction cups to work.
We stopped using it when DD was 5 months old. Now she sits up in her baby tub. Washing her hair is more difficult. I think we will be getting a duck tub soon to place in the big tub. DD can't sit up on her own yet.
X hasn't been really strongly sitting up on his own for too long, so I don't feel comfortable with him in the tub alone (without a support of some sort) just yet.
We got an inflatable tub from Safety First (here). I liked the idea of the duck (SO much) but it's much bigger than I wanted - we have a pretty small tub, and I didn't want it taking up so much room when we weren't using it.
I chose this because he can learn to sit up and be unrestricted in the tub without a seat (I feel like it's easier to wash him, and easier for him to play), but if he DOES fall back or forward, he's not hitting the hard sides of the tub. It's pretty small, so it kind of supports him, and we can deflate it and take it with us when we go overnight somewhere. I have left it inflated since it was actually pretty tough to blow up - I bought 2 tension rods and put them above the height of the shower curtain rod and use them as a shelf.
Re: when did you stop using tub sling?
About 4.5 months. Then he sat in the "tub" part of it, which wasn't working AT ALL. We ended up getting a Bath seat, which has proven to be awesome.

I actually just stopped this week. He still leans a little but he can sit up.. I will be getting the duck on friday.

Duck tub is ADORABLE and soft/squishy, but its big!... Seat isn't all that adorable looking, its "harder".. but it folds up nicely.
My kid will be in the infant tub in the sink...then just straight in the sink until he no longer fits.
It would kill my back to lean over our tub.
