Update on childbirth classes

So after asking around, my husband and I signed up for CB classes.  We preferred an all day Saturday class as opposed to three Monday night classes.  Well, they scheduled us for the first weekend in April which is Easter weekend.  I was surprised they even had classes that weekend, but we are going out of town to visit my SIL and go to a Penguins game.  When I called to reschedule they told me their March and February Saturday classes were filled up and that obviously May would be too late.  They offered Monday night classes, but after just finishing my Master's Degree in December, I'm really not into the night class thing.  I'm a little bummed that we won't be taking a class, but I feel that if I have to pay for the class ($75) I should be able to take it when I want. Right?

Oh well, thanks everyone for your suggestions.  I know I'm just stubborn!

Re: Update on childbirth classes

  • It's a little bit of a hike but the Camp Hill Giant offers cb classes through Pinnacle (Holy Spirit). Maybe they have one that would work for you? I had this problem with what we wanted to bc we waited so long then I was put on bedrest. It sucks but I understand where they're coming from. I'd be irritated if I got there and there was 80 people in there bc they didn't have a limit either.

  • I forgot about the classes at Giant. Good call Lindy!

DH and I went to classes at Harrisburg Hospital (7-9PM, 5 or 6 Wednesdays in a row...yuck!). I have to say they were much more beneficial for DH than for me. I didn't really learn anything that I didn't already know, although, I had already watched 50 episodes of a baby story and read What To Expect. I didn't find the relaxation techniques helpful. I was induced and had no plans of having a natural birth.

I did take prenatal yoga classes and the other girls who took the classes with me really seemed to like the techniques taught in this class.

I think a lot of girls feel like they "have" to take the classes because, it's what you're "supposed" to do when you have a baby. People all over the world have babies without so much as a lecture from their mother! If you're unable to take them, read up and you'll be fine!

    Good luck!
