My oldest DD is 3.5. She had a fever on Saturday evening. Was completely fine on Sunday, playing like crazy. Monday, daycare called in the morning saying she had a 101+ fever. My mom picked her up, she barely ate anything, barely drank anything. Had a 103.4 fever at 4pm or so.
I stayed home with her yesterday, she never seemed to have a fever, ate a bit more, drank a bit more, sat on the couch a lot, and played a little bit.
This morning at 4 she woke up crying really hard. She had a 103.1 fever. Has been sniffling a lot for the past few days and complaining her belly hurts.
I spoke to the dr on Monday. He said to just keep her fever medicated and keep her hydrated. I didn't call yesterday because she seemed better. I can't call today because they are CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS!
My only option would be to call the exchange, and if they wanted us to take her in, it would only be the ER, which seems unlikely.
WWYD - call the exchange? Any thoughts on what might be wrong with her?
Re: Sick DD, dr office closed - WWYD
I think that in the short term I'd call the exchange.
I think that in the long term I'd find a doctor with better hours who was accessible when I needed them.
My pedi is open 7 days a week with hours M-F 8-8 and Sat/Sun 8-2 with sick walk ins taken daily at 8:00 am.
If something happens after hours they have a nurse line who will page the on call doctor if necessary.
