Top rated jogging strollers?

After trying for hmm... about 6 months now to get DH to let me get a jogging stroller, I received a text from him today saying he would like to get one so he can get his lazy arse out for a run with August.  Hmm... interesting... Sounds familiar.  Anywhoo...  Of course there are a couple that I 'like' but don't know a ton of info about.  I would like one that folds up pretty good and will fit in our Toyota Camry trunk.  I 'think' I want another baby in the next couple of years so maybe a rumble seat?  What do you have?  What do you suggest?  I don't really care for the double wide strollers.  It would be nice to still take the stroller through the grocery store.

Thanks ladies!

P.S.  I 'like' the Phil and Ted and the Bob Rev.

Re: Top rated jogging strollers?

  • I would buy a single BOB Rev now, use it until you get pregnant again, and then sell it on CL.  It's $389 new, and they sell on CL everyday for $300.  So you are basically paying $89 for the whole time you use it.  The BOB is a great running stroller, I would just make sure you get the one with the 12" wheel in front, and 16" wheels in back.  When I've played with them that was the one I really liked.

I haven't played with a P&T myself, but if I needed a double for jogging, that's the one that I would buy.  The double BOB is HUGE and really wide, it's like a tank, it doesn't fit through a normal size door at the mall...

  • Thank you Jenn!  Exactly what the info I needed!  So.. would it be better to buy the bob new or just as good if I get it used?

It's up to you.  I have bought 2 strollers used off CL and have been very happy with both, they were in great condition and I saved enough money to make it worthwhile.  It depends on how quickly you need it, and what color you want.

I, personally, would buy a new BOB right now from Segals or REI, because I really want a pink and brown one, and I never see them on CL.  I see a lot of orange ones, but that's not my style.

  • I just got a nearly new double BOB Revolution on CL for $300.  I am still shocked!  Also, REI should have their 20% off coupon soon that will give you an amazing price on a BOB.

  • I would also second the BOB Revolution.  We have the single for DD and when we have another baby are planning to get the duallie.  Ours was purchased from Segals, but I know that REI has a sale with a 20% (in that range) coupon a couple times a year for members.  Great quality, easy to maneuver, and totally worth it in my opinion.  We had the Graco Snug Ride infant seat and purchased the infant seat adapter so it basically functioned as a travel system until she was ready to sit in the stroller by herself.  The infant seat adapter then comes off and you can attach a snack tray which has been a life saver for trips to the zoo, mall, etc.

  • We have the BOB and love it!  We bought it at Segals during a good sale and it's been great.  Very smooth ride, not bulky/heavy, easy to setup and also compatible with our Graco carseat.

  • I suggest getting a Phil and Ted only because going from a BOB to a Phil and Ted like I just did is EXTREMELY dissapointing. I'd rather not know the difference. Everyone I've ever talked to about their Phil and Ted raved about it. I however can't because I already know how much better the BOB is. I miss my BOB!

LOL Then why don't you just get the double bob? LOL  Silly girl!

  • We just got a Bob Rev, and while our LO isn't here yet, I'm in love with it. What I don't like about the Phil and Teds is the second seat is like under the first. Seems uncomfortable, I'd hate to be the one who had to sit underneath. But maybe kids don't care? If it were me and I wanted a double, I'd get the Bob duallie. It is wide but I see people with them ALL the time, so they can't be that annoying. I'm not worrying about the double option until we have 2 kids (if we have 2).
