My little brother just called and said he's not going to get to come up for the swim meet in Denver this weekend because they found alcohol in their dorm room freezer after the cops were called on a loud party this weekend.
The kicker: All of the guys that live in that room were out to dinner together and weren't even there when this party was going on. Either someone has a key to their room or they forgot to lock the door. The cops showed up just after the guys got home and they got the blame for the party.
The dean basically bullied them into signing a waiver (while the cops were still there and the boys were freaking out still and didn't have time to process anything) saying that they're responsible for it by telling them that if they signed this would all "go away." Now because they signed that waiver the coach isn't letting them swim this week. Plus he has no idea if this whole non-incident will actually go away of if he will now have academic issues because of it (like lose his scholarship).
And yes I believe my little brother in this. If it were his twin I'd think it was a cover-up to hide that he was drinking, but this brother is practically incapable of lying and is absolutely terrified of this whole situation, plus he would never do anything to jeopardize his swimming.

Ugh, poor guy!
And people who abuse their positions of authority by taking advantage of others piss me off. The dean sounds way shady to me, pushing some scared kids to sign papers with the cops there...
Sadly, I don't think that would matter.
That sucks!! I'm assuming your little brother is under 21 too?
Yes they have receipts from dinner. Cops didn't care. He is under 21... he'll be 20 next month.
