Our bedding set comes with a window valance but I'm not sure what to do with it. We're leaving the mini blinds up on the window but we don't really want just a valance on top. Should I put up longer curtains (at least the height of the window) underneath the valance? Does anyone have pictures of how this looks? Any other suggesions?
TIA!
Re: Window valances
I typically cannot stand valances, and have none in our house... until now. DD2's room already had nice roman shades that we're keeping, so I bought balloon valances in the same material as her crib skirt and whatnot, and am hanging and stuffing them over the roman shades.
I think it depends on the style of valance- did you get the flat, tie-top, or what?
I'm not usually a fan either and I'd probably just switch it out for regular panel curtains but DH really wants to use it. He wants to go with a cafe style for the lower half of the window but I think that'll look so tacky.
It's a flat valance so it doesn't have much shape. It's pretty plain, not a crazy, wild pattern or anything so it's not obnoxious. It's mainly beige with a small border that has beige, green & cream stripes.
Would it look silly with curtains underneath? I stink at interior decorating!!!
Hah! I'm in the middle of this debate myself.

My Blog
It's so hard to say... Since I posted above, I hung the valances for DD2's room (they'd been wrapped up, waiting on the dresser for me to get rods).
Annnnd.... I don't like them! I'm not sure if I'll get used to them, and just have to adjust to seeing valances in my house, or if I don't like them because I just don't LIKE them.
So I'm useless as far as advice for ya goes....
