Andrewsgal

Did your DH make it to Maryland? I saw on the news at noon that they were starting to cancel flights both in and out of BWI already.

Re: Andrewsgal

  • He did, he got the last flight out of philly into BWI today the rest were canceled. He called me when he landed at BWI which was about 12 your time. But the dumbass said his cell phone was dying. Who flies into a snowed in state with a two hour drive ahead of him with a dying cell? AHHHH...He said he would call me when he got to the hotel, it is a 1.5-2 hour drive so I am hoping for a call by 4 your time. Thanks for asking.

The real kicker is that we are supsosed to get snow late Thursday early Friday and that means our city will shut down, we don't do well with snow in TX so who knows if he will get back here on Friday.

This whole trip is a bust!

  • I hope that he gets home.

It's not looking too good for mine. They still haven't cancelled that video teleconference, but we have no $ for him to stay in a hotel for the 2 or 3 nights it would take to dig out DC, let alone meals and the fact that he has no clothes other than what he's wearing. Grrr.

  • And on top of it all, it's in the 50s in Vancouver. The winter Olympics are having trouble with not ENOUGH snow. :-)

Will the company pay? They should, that sucks. I would be livid if DH's company did something like that to him

How is the new job on the horizon?

  • My major beef with the whole thing is that DHs actual employing company is godawful slow in reimbursing-- his last expense check took 3.5 months to come, and it was half of what he had submitted. They don't pay him enough for the dedication that they expect. You would probably think his salary is below the poverty level. We can handle normal expenses just fine, but I can't float his company a ton of money that may or may not come back to us.

Plus, they have jacked up hotel prices in DC because of the weather, and I can't swing what could easily be $1000+ for 3 nights, plus meals plus incidentals.

The company where he is working has him under "consultant" status, so I don't know if they will cover it. This freakin' sucks.

The Cleveland trip is understandably on hold until he can fly up for the in person interview. That's looking like next week at this rate.

Sorry to sound like such a whiner. I've been stuck in the house with these kids since Friday, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

  • Heck you sound like you are holding up better than me, I would be done after three days with the kids in a house.

That sucks about his company, we are lucky that DH has a corporate amex so everything goes on there, I would not be okay with fronting expenses then having them paid back either.

  • Yeah, if they would give out corporate cards, this would all be a moot point.
