PNP changing table feature

It breaks my back to change the girls on the PNP changing table.  I am tall (5'11") but bending over to change them on it really makes my back ache.  My friend, who has been over to help out, has changed them on it too, and she's 5'6" and says it hurts her back as well.  MH goes upstairs to change them on the changing table because it hurts his back so much.

Does anyone else have this issue?  Or are we just all losers with bad backs?  Wink

Re: PNP changing table feature

  • It definitely used to hurt my back... I don't know if you just get used to it or if the fact that they need their diapers changed a little less often comes into play.. but it eventualy got better.

Try sitting on the couch and laying them on the couch to change them (just be sure to put a blanket/changing pad down!)

  • I just took the attachment off and used it on another table.

  • We actually just set our PnP up downstairs again to use the changing table feature (ours goes up to 25 lbs) because we were tired of changing on the floor when we're downstairs. ;) That and when I was changing one baby, the other always tried to get into it so it helps to be elevated. It hasn't bothered our backs. (I'm 5'7" and DH is 5'8".) At their age you might have better luck using a changing pad on the floor.

Good point.  My back kills from a million trips up and down the stairs, holding babies, doing laundry, making bottles, recovering from a c/s, etc.  The PNP is just one more issue.  ;)

  • maybe I'm just short enough -5'2"- b/c it doesn't bother me at all.

  • Definitely doesnt bother me, I love it but I'm only 5'0. MH is 5'11 and has never mentioned it bothering him.

but i think some are taller than others, at least accdg to the graco website- i have the utopia & its ht is listed as 36", some others are listed as 33.

  • I used to just change them on the floor or on our bed.  I'll tell you what though, my back has started aching the last couple of days.  I think its from the weight of lugging both of them and Carissa around.
  • That thing always killed my back, too, and I'm only 5'5. I found it easier to just put a blanket on the floor and change them there.
  • It does mine too, I try not to bend over as much when I'm changing them.

  • You're not the only ones!  It kills my back too.  I've actually joked that they should make a PNP for TALL parents that has a higher changing table ; )
