I have had Madisen Blaine picked out sinced before we even conceived but alot of people are saying that Madisen spelt that way is going to cause problems for her in school... and blaine is more of a boy name? whats your take on it
"Blaine? That's not a name that's a major appliance!"
Sorry, couldn't help the movie quote.... I dislike Madison simply because it's so overdone but if you're going to name her a super trendy name, pick the correct spelling. A uneek spelling does not make the name less common.

I think of Blaine as a boy name because that's my brother's name, but I know a girl named Blaine as well, so it's not that far out there. And as the middle name I don't think it matters as much.
Madisen will always be spelled Madison...why do you want to spell it differently? That name is pretty popular now too (in case you're concerned with popularity at all) And Blaine is a boys name, but I don't mind that for a girl middle name. Is it a family name or something? If you like it, use it!

Madisen makes you look illiterate. I just don't get spelling names wrong. It's not like you just decide to spell other random words wrong, so why your child's name, that they will have their entire life?
I don't like Madisen at all. The spelling sounds made up and it looks like you're trying too hard to be trendy. But I do like Blaine as a middle name. Even though it's considered a "boys" name, I think it works just as well for girls IMO.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

I'd definitely go with Madison - does the spelling really change whether you like the name or not?
As for Blaine - it doesn't seem like a good girl or boy name but I would definitely think more of a boy if I saw it. I like boy names for girls though so if YOU love it, stick with it. It's a middle name - she's not going to walk around her whole life saying "Hi - I'm Madison Blaine". What avout Blair - same feeling as Blaine but clearly feminine?
I think you should stop caring what internet strangers think. It's your child - name her.
I agree!
Even after she explained why she was thinking of spelling it that way people still said "it's dumb" and made fun. It was/is a "real" name to them.
If you and your DH want to honor his gma go ahead and spell it that way. At least there is a reason for the uncommon spelling and she will have a story to go along with it when other ignorant children/teens/adults try to say something about it. It really isnt that serious at all.
I would stick to the traditional spelling Madison so that your daughter doesn't have her name misspelled and/or mispronounced. I would also pair Madison with a more feminine middle name.

This exactly. And for those who use the argument that "she will always have to correct people" well so what? People spell my name wrong, and there is only ONE spelling for it! It has never been a problem to correct them, you just point it out that it's actually spelled "this" way and go on your day. I have just never understood the "they'll always have to correct the spelling" thing. By the way, if we have a girl we are spelling it Maddison and I see zero problems with it.

Agree. Even if it was grandma's spelling-your grandma's spelling was wrong!
Just becuse it was spelled wrong before doesn't mean you should use it that way.
Please spell it correctly, your child will appreciate it.
