My husband is a Junior so he would like if we have a boy he to continue the family trend. What do you think of doing a combo of first and middle? Richard Wiley- Riley instead?
Oh.. so you'd still name him RW, but actually call him something else? That's odd and confusing.
The main reason I dislike naming a child the same as the father/mother... it does often cause some identity issues in the legal sense. I've known people who get confused with their parent and it can be a real PITA.
Plus, honestly, I think it's a tad bit arrogant for someone to insist on naming a child after themselves.

Thats why I was trying to compromise with my husband.. name him Richard Wiley but he would go by Riley instead...
I'm personally not a fan of calling a kid by another name, at all. Just name him what you intend to call him. If Riley somehow comes out as a natural nickname, that's one thing, but confusing the kid (and everyone else) from day one is silly, IMO.
Re: Name Idea
agreed
While I like Riley, you do realize that's not really following the "family trend," right?
Personally, I hate naming a child after a parent, grandparent, etc. Give the kid his own identity. But that's just me.
