New FB layout - question

So, I'm not one to bitch_ about change just because it's change, BUT this new layout is driving me nuts. When I go to my home page it tells me there is nothing new to display - really?? cause I have friends that post everytime they have a snack - I really can't imagine there is just nothing new to read. What am I doing wrong?

What is weird is that my dh page changed to the new format but my page is the old format. Why is that?

I still have the old format too (which is giving me errors up the wazoo btw) but I have heard if you click status updates on the left side you can see everything? Or friends, then status updates? Something like that...
