Re: Poll (clicky): Language

  • I would have voted for "No.  We would like to, but we don't know another language so it would be too hard."

  • I voted yes we would like to try and teach some Spanish.  I only know a little, so what I do know, I will teach her.  I have already been using some Spanish words when seeing and item.  I will also say it in English also.  The area we live has a lot of Spanish speaking individuals, and I think it's good for her to learn some Spanish.  My husband took French in H.S. and has never used it in his life.

  • I voted other. I want them to learn another language in school or a special class outside of school.
  • Thanks to Dora and Kai-Lan, DD is trilingual.
  • DD watches Handy Manny, so that pretty much covers our bases.

  • Where's the option for "Yes, but Dora and Kai-Lan are doing the teaching"?
  • This is AMERICA and we speak ENGLISH here. Anyone who doesn't like it needs to stop being racist against Kentucky!!!!

In all seriousness, no, we're not. He's having enough trouble with one.

  • We have a Spanish speaking nanny for 5 hours every Friday and I amazed at how many Spanish words Joseph knows just from that little time.  I speak moderate Spanish but my accent is horrible.  I emphasize the basic words all the time, but I don't really want to speak to him in Spanish and pass on a horrible accent where he isn't even pronouncing the words correctly.

  • I'm trying to learn German and hope that DD will learn it as well. We may try to learn Russian, too, later on. But I'm not planning on forcing her into any other language.
