I *think* it is around $150 per line. I know that there is something in my contract that the cancellation fee goes down by $5 per month that you are in contract, but I'm not sure if they are all like that.

I think I remember AT&T's cancellation fee being $175. I looked into it for my DH when he thought about ONLY using his work cell instead of carrying around 2 cell phones.
I want to take advantage of the blackberry deal going on with Verizon plus some of their plans are better than what i'm offered with at&t. I have no idea if it's the area i'm in or not but there doesn't seem to be as much available to me with at&t as there is with verizon....idk
Customers who are currently under contract with AT&T may be charged an Early Termination Fee (ETF) of $175 if their service is canceled prior to the contract expiration date.
New and renewing AT&T wirless customers who enter into 1- or 2-year service agreements will no longer be required to pay a single, flat ETF for each wireless telephone number associated with the service. Instead, the $175 ETF will be lowered by $5.00 every month for the term of the contract.
Customers who upgraded or renewed their contract prior to May 25, 2008 will not be eligible for the pro-rated Early Termination Fee.

So you have 2 phones with AT&T? Do you have to move both? If not, you can have your number released from the plan and can move to Verizon and then just keep the other phone on the plan until the contract is up. There are no fees if you do it this way.

OR, I just thought of this, I could downgrade to the lowest of lowest cost plans and jump ship and get new numbers and a new plan? WDYT?
Yes, to answer you, we have a plan with two phones and two numbers on it. I'm not sure though how much we want to keep the numbers. We've had them for a very long time...why is this such an in-depth decision to make? Is it or am I just making it seem that way?
It would be 280 to cancel ours if I did the math right. We renewed 11/08 so 175 plus 175 minus 70. Our current plan is 700 minutes with rollover and nothing else - no internet, no texting - we pay $60/mo. Do we just pay the $ to cancel and get a deal with all with the blackberries with verizon and have all that crap and kill the internet at home......so many ways to do it and it's not even a critical one. Why am I bothering with this?
I would rather wait until my contract is up to cancel. These places have deals/specials all the time, another one will come along. And it may even be better.

Thanks!! I at least renewed after 05/08. So it could be worth it after a little math.
Oh wait, maybe not, it would be 175 + 175 - $5 for each month - maybe not worth it then...
