Target return question

I know a lot of you have been having problems returning stuff to Target... I have 2 BIG things I need to return that I don't have receipts for: a swing and a carseat. They are on my registry I just changed my mind. LOL! Do you think I will have problems returning them?

Re: Target return question

  • I haven't had any trouble returning things to Target without the receipt. Just make sure they're on your registry and marked as fulfilled (which you can do yourself if need be). When you go into the store by the returns department they have some computers. You'll need to print out your purchased registry list or whatever they call it (it will be obvious). Then take that paper (it won't actually be a list - just a bar code or two) to the returns desk and they'll give you store credit for it.

  • No. Just go to the kiosk where you print out your registry & print out a gift list (I think that's what its called). As long as you have that printed out they'll take back anything, well at least they did for us.

  • You should be okay, as long as they haven't gone on clearance.  We tried to return a Boppy and they wouldn't touch it, despite it being fulfilled on our registry, because it had gone on clearance.

  • Great!! Thanks y'all!!
  • Were they purchased online?  I tried returning something purchased online in the store and they would not let me.  GL!

  • I work at Target as a front end manager and I can tell you not everything online can be returned in store.  Target.com is run by Amazon.com thats why we do not offer price adjustments to things online.  Also I have never returned anything using a registry.  Without either a gift receipt, actual receipt or the debit or credit card it was purchased on you can return it on your license,  When you return on your license you are only allowed $70 for the whole year so that means you will not be able to return both things on your id but you and your dh can do it.  Some things will allow you to return pushing past the ID but that means you would have to spend that money on another carseat and you wouldn't get the total refund you would get the lowest selling price for the last 90 says.

Lastly to the poster who said the employee sounded like an idiot you are wrong.  With Targets system you can not go against the return policy the computers will not allow it a manger can not over ride it.  The only thing that could be done is either the customer can call guest relations or the team member can.  So to make a statement like that is awful.

  • I returned a TON of stuff to target this last week.  I think about 12 small items and 3 large items without any problems at all.  I had no receipts and only 2 of those things were off the registry and they were very helpful.  They had me pull up my registry so they can scan the bar code and just returned everything.  I was talking to the lady and she said they recently changed the policy to be more friendly to people that have registries with Target.  She went on to say if I wouldn't have had a registry with them I would have been only able to return 2 (or 3 I can't remember) items under 20 dollars.  I am glad they made the change because while people were at target shopping off of the registry they picked up extra items and we had so many duplicates of stuff not on the registry.

Are you sure you work at Target?  Perhaps this miscommunication between policy and what employees think is policy is why so many people are frustrated with Target and their registry.

Last week I returned bottles to Target from my registry.  I didn't have a reciept.  The customer service lady told me to print out the registry list (one with the bar code) and bring it to her.  I returned the bottles and got store credit.  No questions asked.  I didn't even get out my ID.

I was told the following:  If there is NO receipt, and its on your registry, they will only accept refunds/store credit up to $70.  Hence why I still have a ginormous travel system in the backseat of my Fit.  Tried to return it at two different stores, and yes it was marked as fulfilled.

You're talking bottles, not big ticket items like swings and carseats.

I've returned a ton of stuff from my registry without any sort of receipt (by that I mean I added stuff I got without a receipt but didn't want to my registry so I could return it). I've also returned a few on-line only items to the store. I was told that I couldn't have made those returns unless the items were on my registry (they were and I had no problem). So obviously there's a miscommunication on Target policy somewhere. Maybe it differs from store to store.

Just curious - were any of the items more than $70?
