First bath questions

How soon did you give the first sponge bath?

Did you shampoo the head?  how?

NO lotion, right?  Tessa's little feet loot chapped, they're so dry.

I went through this less than 2 yrs ago and I completely blocked it out.  Those first few weeks as a 1st time mommy WITH twins was crazy.

Re: First bath questions

  • We sponge bathed right away...every 2 or 3 days. We did shampoo too since LO had sooooo much hair.  Just hold her head under the faucet. GL

  • we did the same as pp even though my DS doesn't have much hair.  As for the lotion they told us no at the hospital but my DS skin was so chapped it was cracking and bleeding, I thought that is was ridiculous not to put lotion on so I ask our pedi, he said it was fine.  I use a hypoallerginic lotion and pedi said we could use vasoline as well.  I don't use much just when he is cracking.

  • Why no lotion?  I put lotion on LO while we were still in the hospital and the pedi was in the room and said it was fine.

  • My pedi said no lotion or shampoo...  only vaseline.  Her reasoning was that babies shed their first layer and would absorb the lotion into their system.  She said that we could use lotion/shampoo after 6 months.

  • use Aquaphor on her really chapped parts.  It works like magic.  My LO feet looked like someone took a razor to them, but within a week of using the Aquaphor they cleared up.
