Everyone is going to have a different opinion on nail polish, but the truth is polish or the glue they use for acrylics contains harmful chemicals -- specifically phthlates. Phthalates have been found to cause birth defects and are a carcinogen:
I think the bigger concern would be the acetone they use to remove the polish and the acrylic nails. I know I have seen some "safer/environmentally friendly" polishes advertised online, but cant speak to their safety-you should call your Dr if you want to be 100% certain.
The way I look at it, if you really want to do your nails I would find a well ventilated salon that offers true gel nails (not the gel overlay polish) as opposed to acrylic...
I have been told that it is okay after the first trimester. It all depends on who your doctor is and what they say/think. I do my own gel nails at home. That was you don't get all the chemical smells or dust that builds at a nails salon. It is very easy to do if you have a beauty supply store near you I would suggest looking into it. Good Luck!

So, if you want to play it safe -- buy non-toxic polish and do your nails yourself:
